Several months after making 18 million cracks in the highest of glass ceilings, Hilary Clinton has now had to settle for a slightly lesser accomplishment: removing the very final shard of glass from the centuries-old “secretary glass ceiling.” As long-time Hilary supporter Diane Farris explained yesterday:

“Over the last few centuries women have been making steady progress in penetrating various different forms of ‘secretary-type’ jobs. One might think that our gender having secured 99.999999972% of the jobs with ‘secretary’ in the title, and the fact that for the last eight years a Republican woman has held the very job Hilary is now claiming, would indicate that the secretary glass ceiling had already been obliterated. That would be wrong. By successfully claiming the top secretary job in the nation, and importantly providing these secretarial services to a man who’s job she’s clearly more qualified to hold then he is, Hilary has finally removed that pesky last shard of glass in the ceiling that’s been holding back secretaries everywhere.”
